TRAINING WORKSHOPS
The profession of expressive arts includes two streams for registration. One stream is Registered Expressive Arts Therapists (REAT). The other stream is Registered Expressive Arts Consultant and Educators (REACE). TRAINERS
One Day Expressive Arts Therapy Workshop
An experiential day of using the arts for therapy, education, and community building.
Excellent workshop for therapists, child care workers, nurses, social workers, psychologists, art therapists, and educators.
This workshop will offer participants an opportunity to explore how the arts may be
used both individually and in group format. Viewing slides of client art and experiencing various hands-on art modalities will support the integration of theory and practice.

INspired INtrospection: A One Day Retreat for Therapists/Educators

For those who have taken expressive arts trainings, or who use the arts in their practice/work, or who simply need a day of retreat.
A nurturing day of focusing oriented expressive arts to rejuvenate the therapist's mind, body and soul.

Advanced training based on the book:
Expressive Arts Therapy for Traumatized Children and Adolescents: A Four-Phase Model

Three day intensive.
Learn a hands-on, safe, structured approach to treating the effects of trauma.
Learn a thorough framework for integrating the arts into trauma treatment.
Learn structured, arts-based sensory interventions to effectively treat key trauma reactions which promotes self-regulation.
A step-by-step approach through four phases of treatment, including assessment, cultivating safety and resources, trauma processing, and future reorienting.

Two week summer intensive training in one of two specializations Clinical or
Consultant/Educator.
Clinical specialization is geared toward providing therapists with the opportunity to
further develop clinical skills with children/teens and adults and further develop their
personal practice model.
Consultation/Educator specialization will further refine your expressive arts facilitation
skills, help define the scope and focus of your unique expressive arts work and to
deepen your skills using a variety of modalities in consultaion, facilitation or educational work.

A 6 month intensive training in the fundamentals of expressive arts therapy.
Students attend one weekend a month of training over 6 months.
An introduction for individuals who may want to use the arts in their clinical practise,
community work, or for personal experience.
A degree is not required but an openness to experience the intermodal use of expressive arts.

A 6 month intensive training in the fundamentals of expressive arts therapy.
Students are required to come to Calgary for a one week immersion in April and a one
week immersion in September with work to be completed in between the intensives.
An introduction for individuals who may want to use the arts in their clinical practise,
community work, or for personal experience.
A degree is not required but an openness to experience the intermodal use of expressive arts.
